Summary

Johns Hopkin University’s professor and researcher had requested for their research lab to be renovated due to deterioration and old age of equipment. These new upgrades will allow the researchers to effectively and efficiently conduct their research.

The renovation encompasses replacing existing millwork with all new custom chemicals resistant metal casework, biosafety cabinets, fume hood, rework of medical gas lines, rework of existing HVAC to support new lab equipment, and other various support for the lab. In addition to executing a quality finished product, cleanliness was necessary to maintain via containment barriers and the usage of negative air machines.

Challenges that Janus faced will be meeting the tight schedule. One of the lab rooms will be on a tight schedule as the renovation cannot impede the research work while the other lab room requires constant coordination with the researchers. Additionally, another challenge is coordination of the new equipment to ensure a clean and well executed product for the end user to continue their breakthrough research.
